The original post from BigDaddyBS: I saw, mentioned, that a human sexuality category is being added/changed to within the "Relationship Advice" section. I've noted many VERY graphic sexuality questions in some Relationship categories. I always flag graphic question to the Adult category. Should there really BE graphic sexual questions in the Relationship category? I'm not talking about the abused wife whose husband forces her to have sex, but discussion of the mechanics of sex? Remember that the relationship category is open for ALL users, from 14 up. The adult category is for 18 and up. Shouldn't AB really think about itself in a "movie ratings" sort of way, and keep the mechanical information in the 18 and over (Mature audiences only) area?

you can find the same info on lots of other websites, so if the parents let their kids use the internet then who are we to censor it? if they dont want their 14 year old looking this stuff up then theyshould monitor their internet use.

I thought that's why we had AB4Adults.

That's what AB4Adults is for - when I see a question like that I flag it to be moved to the correct place. No, there shouldn't be sexually graphic questions in relationship advice nor should there be instructions on how to perform sexual acts - and at the moment there isn't meant to be. However, all we can do as responsible ABers is to flag the offending questions - AB admin cannot monitor every question before it is posted.

Hi BigDaddyBS, thanks for the question. The answer is going to be long, so bear with me... First of all - you have hit one of the major things we mods are tackling at the moment. I've started at the top, and Adult is first alphabetically, so as you have noticed there have been some changes to the sexuality/relationship/adult sections all over the site. One of the issues we have noticed is that "sexy" questions tend to mixed in with the "sexual" questions. By "sexy" I mean questions intended to be titillating or erotic in nature, like "would you like to 123 my 456 tonight?" or whatnot. By "sexual" I mean anything else, related to relationships, health, or sexuality. We are currently working on ways to differentiate the categories so that the "sexy" question end up properly in the Adult section. As for the "sexual" questions, there are clearly some grey areas. It is my personal opinion (separate from AB policy) that anything that can be considered educational should remain in the regular AB section. This particularly means health related questions, which can be quite graphic. I also tend to lean more towards the side of "let information be free" and "young people deserve to know about sex too", but again that's my personal opinion. However, in order to create consistent AB policy we mods together are looking at a number of examples to decide how to differentiate what is and is not appropriate for regular AB vs. Adult AB. That decision will certainly take into account the ages of our users and what kind of community we want to support here at AB. Keep in mind too (something you all know well): no matter how "perfectly" we delineate/describe the categories, people will post wherever they damn well please in the end. We can't guarantee that people will always post in the Adult section, we can only try to rig the system as best we can to facilitate them, and moderate rogue questions when that facilitation fails. Thanks again, and if you have any ideas on this issue, please feel free to post here!

No there should not, that is the reason why there is AB4Adults. Many users have never visited such site and will possibly not ever visit it. AB should do its utmost to protect their users from quite offensive and nasty questions and answers. If innocent questions get sexually explicit answers then I suppose I must be out of touch but I did not know AB was going to become a porn site, many users don't know their limits.

Absolutely not! I saw one this morning that made me want to throw up about the use of the "rear" end. It was graphic alright. I don't know how such a question can get in the relationhip category. I'd vote for getting rid of the whole AB Adult category if possible.

I do not think there should be graphic sexual questions outside of the Adult section... period. It must be remembered that the main site is for 14 and up.
