Some are challenging the monopoly of the syndicates by offering their work for free to newspapers as the artist makes his money on-line. Scott Kurtz and his "PvP" is the best known example. DJ Koffman's gotten noticed by the comic book industry and was pulled from "Yurmumah!" to do "Hero By Night".
