• Thunder is a sound made by lightning, where the sudden increase in pressure and heat from the lightning causes a rapid expansion of air that resulted in a loud sound --- that is thunder.
  • its when cold and warm air hit each other.
  • When lighting occurs it leaves a "hole" in the air when the lightening bolt stops. The air rushing back in to fill the void causing the boom. Some what similar to clapping your hands.
  • lightning splits the air apart as it's traveling thru the sky. as soon as the lighting disappears the air quickly slaps back together causing a sound known as Thunder.
