G'day Mrs Dufresne, Thank you for your question. If it was the only thing that the person thought of, then yes. If it was a fleeting thought, definitely not. Regards

Well if she might be worried she will pass out or make an embarressment inside of the delivery room, she might need to focus on herself stay in control, but it should be fleeting if she has to do this the whole time ya totally narcissistic, like if she was thinking about getting her nails done afterwards also :P

I'm a midwife and you would be amazed the amount of people who think that they can handle the delivery room and they have ended up completely passed out on the floor. Maybe this person is just genuinely concerned that she will not be able to support her friend and if she feels that way she should not go because she will only make what is already a very stressful situation worse.
-
Not necessarily. I think it depends on WHY she is worried about how she'll feel. She may be concerned that how she 'feels' or reacts may influence the environment for the laboring mother. ...for example, if she passes out at the sight of blood, of hyperventilates at the site of a needle, that wouldn't be a calming influence on the mother.

If I were a woman I would be scared shitless going into labor. I watched my kids born because they made me, but personally I'd rather watch a gory bar fight... Sickening sight, child birth,,, yuck! It's like witnessing a brutal torture!

I think most people think about themselves first over a friend. Most people, however, aren't honest enough to admit that. It's not because they don't care about their friend or won't consider their feelings too at some point, but because that's human nature. +5

Her first name wouldn't be Paris by chance yo?...

It's a little emotionally selfish. And, the funny thing is that if she were to be more concerned about her friend she would then forget about her own discomfort and be fine.
