My question to you would be what animals and how much credit are we giving them?
-
Yes and just look around. Most dog owners are controlled by their dogs. I know my 2 controlled me and talked to me and I understood. Others even said those dogs control you. A few, to include my vet, said that when they die , they want to come back as my pet.

They live without electricity and cloths...they hunt their food...(or gather it)...birds migrate across country without GPS systems...and they arnt glued to a screen all day. I think they are pretty smart...now who are the dumb ones?
-
Oh yes. My dog knew exactly when dinnertimes was and would sit by his bowl right on time. He also knew when my mum was coming home from work and would wait by the door.

I don't have any stories in mind right now, but your question reminds me of a video. Hope you'll like it. http://www.slick.com/dmd/dancemonkeysdance.htm

I am absolutely sure that you're wrong. I mean how could they be smarter tha ..... oops, cat just figured out how to open the kitchen cabinets. Gotta' run.

Pigeons are known to remember over 52 actions they have to make before getting some food...and remember...they have no numerical system to help them. They are just incredible at remembering things.
-
They are really good at being animals.

I had a beautiful dog named Poppy. When my little brother was born my mum would walk me to school and have lil' bro in his pushchair, one day we decided to take Poppy with us and see if she behaved on our walk (on the lead she could be a nightmare with pulling and such) mum looped the lead onto the pushchair and she was an angel, the first time she had been near the pushchair and without any training, she just knew that she had to be good because of the baby. I miss Poppy, I let her down towards the end & I'll never forgive myself :(

One of my cats used to meet me every night by climbing onto the bus before I alighted. Everyone loved him. This is pretty impressive as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIWwOXrHqas

This intrigues me: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/60176/what_a_smart_dolphin_can_learn.html?cat=53

I agree. My parrot laughs every time I hurt myself, trip, drop something...he also asks to go for a ride in the car, and tells me what a pretty bird I am to butter me up if it looks like he won't get his way.

Me too. I agree. I think we're just too stupid to understand them. Many stories! I have class now, i might come edit my question later and add a story =]
