Why do people feel that it is acceptable to use poorly structured, barely legible, misspelled sentences on AB?

    I think that people should put more effort into writing their questions/answers in a clear way, however I don't think we should get all high and mighty about it.

    Some people simply have poor grammar, and they have every right to ask and answer questions.

    The problems arise when the question/answer is barely legible.

    It's America in general. We care little for proper English anymore. Oprah says it's just lazy- I think some of it is ignorance too- lack of education.

    We have free education here & take it for granted- other countries have to pay for it- they are enamoured of learning. They come here and kill us with the grades, because they WANT the knowledge...

    It could be laziness, or the failure to see that they aren't communicating effectively. There seem to be lower standards for writing skills in this "no child left behind" education atmosphere. It's hard to understand that people don't realize how important it is to communicate well. I guess they've always gotten away with it so they think it's ok. What I have found hardest to interpret on Answerbag is the lack of punctuation.
