  • transmission is all done within 25 miles you will lose 2 gear and then you will try to make it home in first gear reving you motor at 4 grand and becase of that you will blow the motor also! guess how i know my friend rebuilt my tranny $400 install $400 18 qts fluid $35 then 1 week later i get a rod knock and here we go all over again used motor $500 install $600 plugs wires cap rotor water pump oil $150 totall cost $2000 truck value 1200 stop driving the truck and find a tranny then drive the truck to a repair shop thats it dont blow your motor like i did i have a tranny for $200
  • An old THM 350 does not have "shift solenoids" like newer transmissions. It has "shift valves" in a sub-assembly called the "valve body". It may be that the 1-2 shift valve is sticking. The other possibility is that the pressure regulator for 'governor' pressure (which is proportional to road speed) is stuck open, causing the pressure to vent. Any competent transmission shop should be able to pull the valve body and inspect it (THM 350s are popular at automotive technology schools because they are simple and robust). Good luck.
