It's never easy knowing what to say if you try and rehearse it - I would reply to his MSN to say that I found his will to live and if he would like to talk about it I will show him where it is. Often when someone is depressed it is because they have a huge heap of problems/worries that seem to pile in on them and because they view it as one heap they find it difficult to cope. If you can get him talking about what is bothering him you can start to make some sense out of individual issues and make a plan to deal with them. Make a list together of the things that are causing him to feel bad and then find a way to handle each one - little by lttle he can conquer all his worries. If you really don't feel able to do any of that ehy not speak to his mum/a family member and ask what you can do to help. Show you care - that's the biggest help you can be!

Tell him to get a cooler name.

That was my quick message thing at one point! I did it more of a joke as to say "I had a crap week and now I'm about to have another crap week." If he's anything like me (witch apparently he is) he would like someone to listen to him complain about how bad a week he has had. It's good to complain and let your thoughts out to someone else.

Tell him that sometimes life isn't about living it's about sacrifice, therefore he must sacrifice for the better cause of mankind. It'll make him feel appreciated.
