  • If a question already has a billion answers, I never bother. Unless I've got something terribly witty to say. And even then, it's just for my own satisfation, because no one will ever get to mine to rate it up. But if there are only a few answers, I read them.
  • I do not read other answers before i write my own answer. I feel that if you do that you tend to follow the trend instead of saying what you truly feel. I may not answer how people want but i answer how I feel, When i have written my own answer i will then look at other answers
  • Usually I read a few. I'm usually formulating my answer as I scan the others to check if anyone else has already posted what I want to say. If they haven't, I go ahead and post, and if they have.....I go ahead and post anyway to get the points! LOL
  • Depends on how many, yes.
  • i read some of them and look for one i think i can answer well
  • No I don't read the other answers - If I did it would confuse the answer I already had in my mind
  • Always. It would be pointless to duplicate an answer, unless of course it is an opinion type question. Then I will answer withoput looking at others, whether or not my answer is the same as another.
  • Yes, it depends on the number of answers, I try to read as many as possible before answering. Haven't you answered your own question..? :D
  • if there are a lot of answers, I assume there is not much I can add, so I don't answer or read the answers. if there are only a few, I do read them, to see if anyone has said what I was going to say. If I like what I read, I give points and/or a comment
  • Sometimes I glance at them , but usually after I've submitted my answer - So I won't lose my train of thought + 5
  • No I prefer to answer the question before I look at other peoples answers that way it is MY opinion not influenced by the opinions of other people.
  • No..I just say what I'm thinking. Sometimes that can be a real curse ; )
  • Only if i have time that way i dont say something somebody said already or if i wanna say what they said i'll say it in a diffrent way but if i dont have time then no
  • I'll read through them to make sure my point hasn't already been posted. If it has but I have something to add, I'll still answer. But I'll usually only read the first page.
  • Not particularily......Sometimes I don't even read the question. Except for this one.
  • NO, I usually answer first, then see how others answered.
  • if im stumped i read them just to put thoughts in my head but my answers are certainly not copied they are my honest opinion/knowledge
  • No, first I answer it then I get curious about what other peoples answer was, so I go look at a couple of the other answers.
  • Usually I read the other answers so I don't duplicate what someone else has said and so I can give points to the people whose answers I like. Then if I have something to add, I'll reference the answer to which I'm adding my comment and then add my answer. Sometimes, though, I get in a rush and don't read the other answers.
  • Sometimes. If it's a factual answer, I check to see if someone has given the right answer or the same asnwer that I plan to give. For opinion type questions, I usually answer first then read the other answers, but not always.
  • Hi! No cutter... only if I'm ambivalent about answering and want to see what answers showed up
  • No, I don't think I ever have. I know sometimes mineis the same or almost the same as some of my friends! LOL +5 good question.
  • Yes, typically I do. If I found the question interesting enough to reply I sure want to see others answers and it also helps to avoid duplication. I also take that opportunity to give points to the deserving answers. Then I answer if it seems appropriate. The big exception to this is when there are 50+ answers, then I just go to where the 0's begin and read the new answers that nobody has given any points to and give those that deserve it some points. I hate to see a good thoughtful answer buried in that manner so I try to do my part to help with that.
  • no, because i normally answer in the moment. then afterwards i take the time to read others answers.
  • I read the question and then I answer...Works for me... :)
  • I read the question first and then read their answers to see if my answer to the question is already been answered by another member.
  • I read the question then answer
  • I read the question, then answer it immediately so I am not swayed by the opinions of others.
  • I answer, then read the question. (just kidding...) Seriously: I read the question first. I think about the answer I could give, and I have a look to see if this answer has already been given. However, I mostly just look at the first page of answers (ordered by points). If the answer was already given, or a better one, I just give them points and write no answer. If I think I can give an interesting, alternative answer, with some more informations, I write it down. For personal, conversational questions, I do not necessarily read other answers first.
  • I don't even read the question at all j/k!!! When I answer, I try not to read the answers of others, so that I would not be influenced by their opinion.
  • banana pudding - now what was your question? Just kidding I read the question and give my answer, If the subject matter is something I enjoy i will read the other answers so i can up-rate good answers. But I never read the answers before answering unless I do not intend to answer but up-rate good answers already given.
  • I normally read all the questions if i'm not sure of my interpretation of the question. Elsewise i simply answer.
  • I just answer
  • It really depends on if I think the question has a large risk of having many of the same type of answer. Often times, I'll answer and find that three other people had also already given the correct answer, and feel like a bit of a dork. :-P
  • depends on the question. sometimes, I answer right away. other times, if it's a question with a lot of answers already, I'll skim through some of the answers first before I answer. I like to see what other people post.
  • Most of the time, I just answer.
  • Mostly I'll read the others first. At least some of them. That way I won't come up with the exact same answer, or i'll try to word it differently, or try to provide a link.
  • I tend to read most of the answers but some aren't worth the time to read. I also like to give points to lots of the good answers. If there is a gazillion answers then no, I wouldn't want to spend all day reading them. But yes I like reading answers that elicit my attention.
  • Verrrrrrrrrry few do I read all the answers too. Most questions and answers aren't that interesting or different from each other. There was a great question about a month ago that had about 300 responses. I read most of those. It told you to pick up the closest book and turn to page 112 or something and read the first sentence. It was great fun!
  • I just hit " answer question" as soon as I click on the one I want to answer. I won't read through all of them unless I want to point the ones I like up.
  • I first read all the answers no matter how many the question has obtained, then I add mine. Regards.
  • 20 answers or less and I'll read them all before I add mine ... more than two full pages and I will read the first two pages for sure, but will only read MORE than that IF the question and answers really interest me ... usually I'll only read the top 20 or less.
  • If there are not a lot, I try to read and rate them all. If there are dozens or hundreds, I'll skim through some of them.
  • I look for people I know and read their answers.
  • I'll read maybe the first three pages if they're interesting, I tend to get impatient after that
  • I really cherish the diversity of AnswerBag! So very many ways to think about things, eh? I attempt to read all of the answers to the questions posted (that I click on). I especially like answers that are provocative and really make me and others think!! More, the answers that aren't 'safe' in the traditional sense of the word makes me really appreciate the courage it takes for someone to step up to the plate! Some questions are like that too!
  • I do try to read all the other answers before I give my own ....but sometimes I just have to jump in boots and all
  • I won :)
  • I usually read the answers first...
  • no to be honest i just answer them.
  • It truly depends on the question, if it is: Pepsi or coke? I dont look. If it is a serious question, I do look at what the others say.
  • I usually read the other answers after I post my own. I like to do this when I see that some of the other answers are funny. I like to kid around with the other answerers in the comment threads.
  • I try never to read the other answers first. I feel that makes people answer in a way that follows the trend instead of exactly how they feel.
  • I answer then I reward points to the asker then I read the other answers and up-rate those I like.
  • Very few times! Coz I know my answer will be 99% different than the others!
  • Most of the time, and sometimes I say the same thing if we type and submit at the same time
  • Almost every time. I like to make sure I'm not repeating, unless it's something I really feel deserves reiterating. Not to mention, if the question has sparked my interest enough to open it in the first place I will likely find something informative or fun in the other answers.
  • No. But I might have if I thought of it.
  • I usually write my answer first, that way it isn't influenced by others. Then I scan others to be sure it's not a duplicate.
  • i usually type whatever pops into my head, even if it is totally messed up. Then i read others
  • I definitely do if the question is asking for an exclusively correct answer. E.g., if the question asks, "What's the most populous country in North America?" then I check to see whether anyone's answered correctly. If they have then I won't repeat that answer. In that case I'd answer with something like, "Canada is the most popular country in NA!" :p I also read the other answers if the question asks for a creative or imaginative answer, so that I can give one that isn't repetitive. Otherwise, I might read a few of them just out of curiosity.
  • Most of the time I don't read the other answers.
  • Nope. It never occurred to me. Should I?
  • I have to an extent, but if there are more than 5 pages of answers I just go for it, and dont read through.
  • not really but yep i read answers of some ppl
  • Not always but most of the time.
  • Usually yes I do.
  • Always for 2 pages or less. I can make sure my answer is unique if that is called for and can learn from and assign points to what others have said. I generally skip questions with tons of answers unless the topic and answers to it are very interesting to me or it's the sort of question that is surveying what most of us users think about something.
  • When I have time, yes. When I see a very good answer, I don't answer the question anymore. I just uprate the question and the very good answer. I rarely leave comments though.
  • Whenever I see a question that catches my interest, I always look through every answer and comment already given to see if my point has already been given, or that other people have made responses that I may use to add to my response. I think this is only fair to avoid numerous duplicate answers, or to see if the person asking the question has expanded on their question in the form of an answer (something I commonly do myself, as you only have a limited space when asking the question). However, it does rather annoy me when you see answers given by people that have obviously not looked at the answers already given, especially if they are being nasty about something. If they had just taken the time to read the answers already given then they would have seen that the point had already been made and answered, often several times.
  • I never read any answers. I don't care what others have said. The person asking the question wants to know what I think..not what I think adjusted or edited by what everyone else has already written. If 25 people give the same answer what's wrong with that? That means we agree on something. When I ask questions I want to know what everyone thinks..I don't want edited answers. Sometimes people won't answer a question if "their" answer has already been given by someone. I don't understand that at all. You don't want manufactured "originals"..you want to know what people think. :)
  • It depends, if it is an opinion related question then the answers are personal and I also have a right to my own, I then don't read the answers but post my personal opinion. If the question is fact related, then I do read the other answers and see what has been posted, what is missing and what I need to add in order to provide a complete answer.
