  • No. It is false. Fred McFeely (Fred Rogers) never served in the military in any capacity. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl-mr-rogers.htm Unless all the biographical information available about him is wrong, Fred McFeely Rogers never served in the military in any capacity, let alone as a Marine sniper (or Navy Seal, as another version of this apocryphal story claims). Some cynical folks may be loathe to believe that the gentle, soft-spoken host of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" was exactly what he seemed, but he was.
  • From what I understand the military stories are false I do undestand that Mr, Rogers (Fred Rogers)won our hearts After graduating from Rollins College in Florida with a degree in music in he immediately went into a broadcasting career that continued for nearly 50 years, even while he studied for a Bachelor of Divinity degree. Fred Rogers was an exemplary individual who devoted his entire adult life to educating and bettering the lives of children, and as such he deserves to be remembered.
  • G'day Airamis05, Thank you for your question. Mr Rogers Neighborhood ran between 1968 and 2001 with Fred Rogers as host for the entire time. He hosted an earlier version of the show in Canada between 1963 and 1966 which rules out any involvement in Vietnam. Indeed, his biography shows no evidence of having served in the military in any capacity. While I do not know whether he had a tattoo or not, I consider it highly unlikely that he did. For one thing, his mild personae makes it unlikely as does the fact that he was also a Presbyterian Minister. Snopes claims that the claim is false and that he dressed as he did to establish himself as an authority. I have attached sources for your reference. • Mr Rogers does not have any tattoos. He had an episode in which he went to the pool and wore only swimshorts. I think you can see it on youtube.
  • In fact there are a lot of things in this statement that are wrong mister Rogers was not actually in nam but he was a green bray at one time he was also a trained sniper responsible for 138 kills in other areas of the world. the reason that in you are not able to find any thing on this is simply because that it has been blocked from the our internet by the U.S. army (because they made the internet but that is another story) the thing about people is they don’t want to know that the person that is on your T.V. every morning can kill you from across the room its not right. as for the tattoos on his arm is wrong he had his left arm sleeved when he enlisted and he has a knife wound scar on the other side. I hope this helps.
  • Lol. He could have been. Summoned by King Friday, he obediently followed the little guy's orders without question.
