New Zealand (1 kg) I fully believe the most tea in the world is actually consumed by my household, and that we are personally responsible for Ireland's strong showing in the above stats. We own the mother of all teapots, it holds about 3 litres of tea, and it is a rare moment in the day when it is not being poured from, refilled, stirred or gently fondled. We love tea. If we Irish have slipped in the tea ratings recently, I blame the now terminally ill Celtic Tiger and his fancy coffee shop ways. Nothing worse than an SUV-driving, latte-sipping Irish yuppie wearing D&G shades despite the interminable rain. Hopefully the recession will see the last of them off...
