I know someone who has enough clearance to have gone through Cheyenne mountain. He said its actually very boring and they almost never do anything exciting. Of course, he gave me no details on what he *did* do...

A friend's husband works for the CIA. All he can say is that he looks at sattelite pictures. Had a client who does drug work for the FBI. I've met several other FBI guys. They don't talk too much about what they do.

... CSIS ... I know a guy who just reads books in several languages and compares them, looking for codes ... he says he does exactly what the agent in the movie "3 Days of the Condor" did ...

Most people who work those jobs are not even remotely like the TV characters. Is this a big surprise. I was working in a phone room and the FBI came in with guns out because the company was accused of mail fraud. It turned out to be a complaining customer who did not get a refund fast enough. What a bunch of orangutans.

Don't know anyone persay; but think the TV shows "glamorize" most of their professions. For the regular joe, it's sifting through tons and tons of documents/information for key/coded intelligence; others it is boring surveillance; stuff like that. As for forensic crime labs, I'd say most don't have the budget to pursue the kinds of analyses/machinery you see on the show. As for the 007s; well they are likely out there; but so well-trained to blend into the general population - we wouldn't know the difference.

I know a CIA agent. All I know is that he went to Columbia for three weeks, but he wouldn't say any more then that.
