Actually, I created my current avatar as part of a banner in 1998 or so, for a website that took years to get going. First I was trying to figure out how to "database" it, and finally found a friend to do it. Then he got extra-busy and didn't want to deal with it any more. It sat for a while, then I decided to just post the vast majority of the emails I sent out separately.
It's still there ( http://www.lyao-online.com ) in the banner, as is the site I started on. Haven't been there in a while, but there are a few hundred items in there, even so. ;-)
