If it's on fire, I say good. I think Japan and Norway should be sanctioned by the UN for their blatent disregard of the plight of the whale. You CAN'T tell me a society in this day and age requires whale products to function. Their plan is probably to take some sort of tissue samples for their alleged scientific purposes, and then sell the meat on the open market.

I cited this so you can research it yourself; http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/world/4558434.html and... http://www.highnorth.no/Library/Hunts/Other/ja-wh-re.htm Below are photo's of the whales being slaughtered in direct violation of international treaties. Minke Whale and Blue (Arctic) Whale w/ calf.

I feel bad for those whalers they're just trying to make a living and all those greenpeace nutjobs harrassing them all the time. They don't just hunt endangered species and even the endangered ones they aren't getting many of them. Eating whale is part of their heritage, western cultures have too much free time on their hands getting a hardon over animals all the time instead of worrying about homelessness or other issues that actually matter

Hi Sunblynd, I don't understand why you would be DR for such a question. I didn't know it is on fire, but that's great! It's about time some Karma bit them! As we all know, they are outright lying about "research"! Every last one on that ship is a scumbag, and I hope they get what they deserve! I don't know why other countries aren't also spotlighted other than Japan. There is absolutely no reason for any hunting to be going on this day in age.

great!!!, lets hope it sinks to the bottom of the ocean... one less death ship to have to worry about

The ship survived, unfortunately. They are whaling illegally. The purpose? Japanese love eating whale meat. The answer? Everyone needs to get "up in arms" about this senseless destruction of nature's biggest and most graceful mammals. I don't think they even differentiate between the different types of species. Great question and thanks for the info. Salaam

I'm not overly concerned with whalers going about their business. Human issues such as ongoing genocide and widespread ignorance need addressing far sooner than some whales dying. Should they hunt them into extinction, at least the food chain isn't likely to collapse as they are a top level predator.
