I play checkers with checkers, not marbles!

I think you are getting checkers mixed up with solitaire. Checkers or draughts as its called in England uses "checkers" ("draughts") pieces. They are normally round - like big coins, with 12 white and 12 black ones. Quite often they have circular rings in them - inside each other... Solitaire has little marbles (or pegs) and you jump over the marbles (pegs) similar to the way you jump over pieces in checkers (draughts), taking the piece you jump over each time away.

Checkers is not played with marbles its played with "checker" peices. CHINESE checkers on the other hand, is indeed played with marbles though. However, these two games are very different.

That is Chinese Checkers you're thinking of, that game they DO play with marbles.
