  • I would think that if you could get money form it, your Mother would be entitled to it. She is the one who covered his half of the finances.
  • I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US she is entitled to the money - not you. She is the one who paid for all the expenses related to raising you. Why should you be reimbursed for money you never spent? Your mom should get that money.
  • I know my mother is entitled to it but she is too kind to drag my father in court over this. She rather be in debt. I want to see if I can do something so that I can then help her get rid of the debt she accumulated taking care of me.
  • Well, if all else failed, I would file a small claims court to get the money. However, it means giving up all monies owed over the maximum allowable for the small claim, and it would be better if your mother sued. You could sue on your own behalf after 18 for support if you are at college or university...
