  • nobody will agree on all of them.
  • well, i ve only seen 3 (snow white, citizen kane and psycho) so my opinion probably doesnt count anyhow, Butterfly Effect and one flew over the cukoos nest influenced me most
  • DC, have not seen all of those...8 of those I've seen....all great movies, i'm sure...without seeing them all, would be hard to comment.
  • Yes i agree. When you study cinema you must know about those movies, that's because they are very important in the history of the making of the cinema movies.
  • Wow no Conan the Barbarian :P
  • I'm a little bit unsure of what the definition of "classic" movie is, besides one that is sufficiently old to be agreed upon by a majority. I agree that most of these film were very influential, but I'm surprised that no Fellini movies are in there, or Mel Brooks or Woody Allen films that redefined the comedy genre.
  • Good list. Tough call with the Star Wars, incredibly influential, but "2001: A Space Odyssey" deserves some love as well.
  • As far as influential, I'd have to agree. I never want to watch Breathless again, though.
  • Seems pretty on the ball as far as influential goes. influential does not necessarily mean best or most favoured by the public, and while for instance Birth Of A Nation is supposed to be pretty racist amongst other defects (I haven't seen it), it was important for its time.
  • I believe those listed films were very influential in the shaping of cinema as we know it today. Some were great, some were mediocre, some not worth the time to watch, but all influential nonetheless.
  • I'll have to agree, because I don't know enough about why they would be influential. I've only seen 6 of those movies and even out of those 6, I don't know.
  • The important aspect here is Influential and helped shape the future of cinema I agree with most of them, but have not seen Rashomon. The question is this, though: If you remove a movie, what movie do you put in it's place and why?
  • Well, I've seen 13 out of 15 on the list. Not bad! I can see why any of those might be on a list like this. Doesn't say "favorite films". It says "most influential" and there are many ways to define that. While we could all immediately speak of Snow White or GWTW .. have to say I really loved "It Happened One Night". I think that genre was repeated for decades and is still going strong. What wasn't to like with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert and their wall of Jericho blanket? LOL The list is missing "Casablanca" though.
