  • Sometimes as you age being trendy becomes less important... the latest in fashion starts to look like stuff you just can't see yourself wearing. We all tell ourselves, "Well it was different when the fashion was just jeans and leather jackets," but the truth is that it's not much different. Your personal outlook on life affects what you think is cool and uncool. Unless you stay in the midst of the youth and adapt your views with the current changes you will slowly become outdated, like your hypercolor shirts and acid wash jeans. (You know you had them... I did too!) If you still want to give the latest trends a style you need to find out which group of subculture you want to identify with. The hip-hop crowd? The emos? The young republicans? The airhead fashionistas? When you decide which group with whom you want to fit in, then you look at them, study them, and emulate them. For a general "style update" take a trip to your local clothing store for young adults... Old Navy and the Gap are safe choices for semi-universally acceptable attire. The great thing about these stores is that if you can buy it from there and it matches... there is a good chance that it's okay to wear together. If you have spare money laying around and you want to be really trendy, head to the mall and have one of the beautiful people at Abercrombie and Fitch dress you. It's going to set you back several hundred dollars for two outfits, but you will probably look decent when you leave.
  • That depends on what country you are in and what part of that country! Do not despair. An easy way to get a feel for new fashions is to people watch at a busy store or park.
