LDS Can give only limited response to it until you tell me what you mean by "propositional truth" and "relative truth". We believe that God reveals what we need to know when we need to know and are ready to receive it. The absolute truths known to God do not change. But we change, and that changes what we are ready to receive. You begin a child with such concepts as 1+1=2. Quite a bit later you may tell him that under the appropriate conditions 1+1=10. The underlying mathematical truth has not changed, but the student has advanced enough to understand new aspects of it and understand more completely.

This resolution is wholly rejected by this Latter-day Saint, and I expect it would be by most.

Ex-Mormon. I imagine that Morg will choose whatever argument allows them to win a debate.

As a Latter Day Saint I can say your definitions of truth is quite simple, but true. However, many truths which we receive from God are not complete in and of themselves. Or in other words, God can and often does add to His truths as He sees fit. The truths do not change, nor cease to be true, they just encompass a greater scope than they originally did. For instance, Jesus told Nicodemus "except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." This was a truth, in and of itself, but Nicodemus did not understand it and said so. Then Jesus added to it to better explain it to him..."Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." The truth didn't change when it was added too, but it became more clear. Truth from God is true for me as it is for you. Neither of us can change it and still make it true, But God can, by simply adding to it as He pleases...Whew4

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (And I'll stop myself from bursting into song there) - The very battle cry of Mormon debators is that truth is eternal and does not change. That it is independant of popular oppinion, or cultural bias. How often do members of the LDS church site the non-relativeness of truth in defending their claim to be the only true church? I've never seen a Mormon of any sort make a claim towards relativism. - Sometimes critics of the church make an assertion that LdS doctrine is in constant flux because the commandments of today differ from those of yesterday, take for example polygamy. Well the changing of commandments doesn't mean the truths behind them have changed. When circumstances change the behaviors of those truly devoted to truth will change as well. Swimming is advisable in the sweltering summer heat, but crazy in a January snow storm.
