Yep. 3 of them
1977 Sylmar, CA 6.6
1989 Loma Prieta, CA 6.9
1994 Northridge, CA 6.7
Yeah! And my "so-called" husband at the time ran to the front door without me!
Yes! I was in Junior High and it took about 3 seconds to register what was happening. I distinctly seeing the floor have waves in it. We did like all students are taught, get under the desk which I feel did nothing for my safety. It lasted about 20-30 seconds and then it stopped. That was the excitement for the week no doubt!
I live in an area where we don't really get earthquakes, but a few years ago we had a very minor one. If it had happened in an area where earthquakes are common, they wouldn't have felt it.
I was at the San Francisco Giants game in 1989..no, no I wasn't.
The one and only time I did experience one was whilst I was staying on the 18th floor of the Cairo Marriott Hotel in 1995. It only lasted perhaps 30 seconds, but that was enough to make me glad I live in a zone that although they do happen, are almost never felt. The epicentre was in Israel, I believe.
Yes my house cracked in half and all my plates were shooken from the house and strown all over broken into little peices, my bed moved fom one spot in the room to the opposite wall. Very costly, happy to say we are still ok and no one was hurt though.
Yes, the Sylmar quake in 1971 was violently shaky at my apt in Santa Monica. The floor rolled like a small boat in rough seas.
The Northridge quake in 1994 was very shaky and scared my family in Hermosa Beach.
The Whittier quake in 1987 and Landers quake in 1992 all were felt at my home in Hermosa Beach, but not so scary.
There were numerous after quakes and small quakes too.
No
Yes, Northridge in January, 1994. The magnitude was 6.7.
New Zealand has alot of Earthquakes. We havent had a violent one lately. But i few small ones. But with every little shake my mum still screams bloody murder.
Its been a little shakey :)
no. never want to be in one
Only a minor quake.
Never. I felt my bed tremble a little when we had an eathquake in the UK a year or so ago. To ever experience the ground move at all in the UK is quite exceptional!
mild 3.+ barely noticeable
No; but recently a 4.4, which is harsh enough to clearly feel. That's plenty for me.
Oh, yeah. I've lived in southern California since before there were freeways.
Yes, back in 1976.

The science of hundreds of years ago or 50 years ago is not the same as today. Won't the science of the future be very different too?

I was here for the Northridge quake.
Do you live in CA?

I did at the times of those quakes. I was living in Los Angeles when Sylmar and Northridge happened, and was living in San Francisco when Loma Prieta cut loose. I now live in Missouri. Ever hear of the New Madrid quakes? I moved from earthquake country to potentially worse earthquake country. ;)
Where were you actually living during Northridge? I mean where in the area were you located?

"Ever hear of the New Madrid quakes?"
.
Yep.
Didn't they happen in 1837?
What were the magnitudes?

I was living where I am now: in Sherman Oaks, which is about 6 miles from the epicenter.
I was home when it happened.
