In a previous question, you said that you have been waiting for a chihuahua for 4 years, so don't get carried away and rush out and buy a dog for a "cheap price". If you can't afford a good pedigree chihuahua, try the dog pound first and look in the local classifieds, if you can afford a pedigree dog, then contact the AKC for breeders in your area. Please remember to socialise your new dog with lots of other dogs, take your dog to training classes and ensure you know all the peculiarities of these cheeky little critters, and you will have a friend for life. Best of luck.

The cheaper the dog, the more poorly it was bred (proper, ethical breeding compares genetic problems of the parents, etc), cared for (healthcare, shots, etc cost money), etc. Go for a reputable breeder, and you'll have a more satisfying relationship with your healthier pet. You'll also save money in longterm medical costs.

Your attitude seriously concerns me. Dogs, once you own one, can become quite expensive. Vet care, good quality food, and the time needed to train and provide them with a good life add up. Some of it adds up in dollars and cents, and some in your time and effort. I am hoping you mean to locate a breeder and actually go and look at the pups, not simply see a photo and order one on line, assuming one can do such things. I agree with comments already made here...check the pound out, often there are pure bred dogs there. Also, beware of a purebred that is insanely cheap...Pure Bred dogs selling for lesser amounts are called PET QUALITY dogs and you MUST get them spayed (not real cheap, probably at least $50.00 for spaying, and neutered if it's a male...a bit less expensive.) YOU DO NOT BREED A PET QUALITY DOG..even if it is a purebred dog. If you want a great dog...for a moderate price, please save a life and check your local pound.
