  • Neither. Parents hard-boil the eggs, let the children have a blast decorating them, then they give them to the "Bunny" to hide. So far as I know, these traditions have nothing to do with Jesus. They are rooted in Pagan fertility rituals.
  • Bunnies do not lay eggs and Easter Morning Jesus was much too busy to make eggs. Chickens lay eggs ,parents boil them, children decorate them. Factories make chocolate eggs.
  • The Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs are both borrowed from the Pagan fertility holiday of Ostara/Eostre (as is the name "Easter"). Eostre is a fertility goddess. Even the date of Easter in modern times falls on the first Sunday after the "pascal moon" (most people wouldn't think that the Christians would base their major holiday on lunar cycles). Red eggs were given to young couples hoping to conceive (although today's Pagans color eggs in a variety of colors and symbols - a green egg with a snake on it is said to also have fertility, luck, and protection symbolism). The rabbit/bunny was know as the Fecund Hare or the God Hare to some people (I believe the Norse peoples, in particular). In Norse mythology he was said to come down from the moon (the Norse people thought that the moon looked like a hare's face) and impregnate the earth with the seeds for the coming spring (at least this is what I've read - any people specializing in Norse mythology or Asatruists, feel free to correct me). The early Church adopted these rituals to ease the transition of newly converted Pagans in Europe. However, it is not the things that you do on a holiday that matter - it is what you believe in in your heart, mind, body, and soul that do. The rest can just be for fun, if you'd like. (If you think this sounds very Pagan, you're not really going to like Christmas.)
  • The real question is how do Easter bunnies reproduce if they lay hard boiled eggs?
  • Willie Wonka's Bunnies lay the Easter Eggs.
  • It all came about because when Jesus was a little boy, before he became the savior of all mankind, he enjoyed the celebration of renewal, that included looking for hidden, colored eggs. This celebration therefore morphed into Easter, as a celebration of life.
  • The only thing I know about the Easter bunny Is that the bunny Is a mascot and It's mostly the parents that hide the eggs for the kids to find.
  • The Easter Bunny, ( Bunny Co LL C,) buys his eggs like everyone else - except he buys in bulk from multiple suppliers around the world, ( over 1.2 billion in 2008 ). These eggs are delivered and processed in one of the over 3 dozen assembly plants located in strategic locations worldwide. The eggs are processed and the finished products are sent to one of the thousands of regional distribution centers to be delivered by "authorized Easter egg carriers" who are hired on a temporary basis like department store Santa Clauses. Jesus does not make the eggs or assist in the delivery - but he does have final approval on each years "official colors"...and he is the honorary "chief quality control officer", which is an unpaid advisory position. A side note - Jesus does not "officially" condone the annual egg distribution - but his active involvement in the process seems to imply his quiet approval and promotion of "Bunny Co's" activity . I hope this helped you - keep smilling!
  • ... the Easter Bunny steals the eggs and hides them ... ... In old Egyptian, Eostre was the fertility goddess and the "Bunny" was a great bird & one of her assistants, the one that delivered the souls to the new babies ... the "Bunny" bird made one mistake and accidentally switched two souls and gave them to the wrong babies ... Eostre was furious and transformed the great bird into a bunny and cast him down from the heavens to the Earth, where he landed in some thick thorny bushes. She wanted him to be devoured by wolves, but the bunny hid in the thorns and the wolves could not get him ... He still had some of the magic power of the fertility goddess and as such all rabbits reproduce profusely ... Feeling the need to seek vengeance against Eostre, the Bunny seeks out eggs, steals them, and hides them ... ... that is also how the "STORK" got promoted to his job ... same story ...
