kayak.com is a good place to book flights and hotels. It searches all major airlines and other sites like travelocity for the best prices.

www.yatra.com, you can buy tickets for your travel plus you can also book hotels from the site. as far as places are concerned you should visit eastern India if you can.

This is not a widely known site but in a Consumer Reports study, it had the lowest prices nearly 70% of the time. I have used them many time and I travel nearly 100K miles a year.
