  • No I feel that as a parent she should have the knowledge of knowing about it. I on the other hand knew nothing about it until the day it happen. Heard thing about in school from friends never heard a word from parents.
  • I was not told a thing, nither was my best friend.. Don't know why parents leave it so late to discuss these things???
  • Well, I had to learn about it beforehand as it was part of the education requirements. But if I hadn't, I know that I would have shrieked when it happened, thought that something was wrong with me or something. "What is this?!" haha
  • What sort of a lousy parent would do that, think about her embarrasing it would be for a girl who never knew and was wearing white at a shopping centre, and then she started there. I will be letting my daughter know before the average age of menstruation.
  • Damn. I'm so torned between the idea of properly teaching my daughters so they won't be traumatized and showing them
  • No i would not coz thats how i found out and i thought i was dying and had no idea why the blood was there.
  • ...my mom's mom just said to her "stay away from boys!" my mom was terrified to go near them after she heard that. a little bit of a logical explanation couldnt hurt...
  • Never! That can be a pretty scary thing if you don't know what's happening. It's a parent's duty to give their kids the information they need to be prepared for life ... in all respects.
  • id leave it to the school
  • noooo thats an awful thing to do, it would be well scary. i know someone whos mum let them discover it on their own, and they thought they were dying! that must be the most horrible thing in that world, its scary enough when you first start, KNOWing what it is, let alone not knowing.
