  • Hmm.. If you have the e-mail from your chain of command directing you to go to a certain location, then those are the orders you operate under unless otherwise directed. Unless the NCO who was supposed to call you to tell you about the change has proof that he called, then it is not your fault for missing first formation. Missing first formation is generally not an offence that calls for being counseled or given an A15 unless the soldier has a record of chronic lateness. I would kick this up the chain and request a formal examination of the circumstances. If the NCO called you long-distance on a landline, there will be a record of it on a phone bill. If he used a cell-phone, the number will be on his monthly bill. Making the NCO prove that he called you is the main thing here. An enlisted man should *NEVER* be faulted for the mistakes of an NCO. If I caught one of my NCO doing that, I would gleefully drop a company-level A-15 on his pointy head and make sure that Satan would drive to work in a snowplow before that NCO ever saw another rocker added to his sleeves.
