No. I tried that and it did not work.

I started reading the Bible instead and I am very glad that I did.

Read your bible that's who you belong to not that building. You belong to god. The church is just a place you gather in one achord to worship God but God dosen't live in that building God lives in you. Denomination is made by man and are seperated by the sins they believe in. You do what God tell you to. I myself claim no denomination I'm a christian.

I think you can be a part of any chruch community and not believe everything the church teaches. What really counts is your relationship with God. That is as long as your issues are doctrinal and not moral.

I remember a nun telling me, (when I was an xian), "you can't straddle the fence, you either are a catholic or not". So, the that's one reason for me to JUMP the fence.

The confusion is between catholic and roman Catholic. Catholic faith means holding to the truth of the scriptures and the first three major Ecumenical councils (Nicea, Ephesus and Chalcedon), which established the creeds and the nature of Christ. As it is, all mainstream churches assent to this, including the Roman Catholics, the Eastern Orthodox, the Protestants. Even the Coptic Orthodox have come round to a more mainline view of Christ's nature. So can you be Catholic without being Roman Catholic? Of course you can.

I hope so I am A Roman Catholic but there are parts of the Church Law that I totally disagree with and make my feeling felt, quite vocally. They have not excommunicated me yet

You can have "Catholic Faith", I think you can have any kind of faith you want to. But in order to "be" a Catholic and legitimately call yourself "Catholic", you must believe in and follow the Roman Catholic teachings and doctrines as endorsed by the Vatican (according to the church).

(Typically, people use the term "Catholic" to indicate Roman Catholic). (My knowledge in this area comes from attending the Catholic Uniersity of America and taking Catholic Social Teaching as a class. I do not have a source to cite for you.)

That said, there are other branches of Catholisism that do not follow that Vatican. I will try to locate the name and get it back here, but there is one growing group called something like "American Catholic" that is operating outside of the Vatican's control. They are more liberal in their views (I believe) they accept gay parishoners.

This is a good place to start for more info:

Your faith is entirely personal, until or unless you feel the need to discuss it. Believe what you like. Believe what makes you happy, if you can.
