  • Torture is wrong. Not wrong to do to some and right to do to others, but plain wrong all the time. When we engage in one legal activity for the purpose of punishing others accused of illegal activity, we instantly lose any moral high ground we were claiming. Besides, it does not work. For as much talk about how much information we have got from these detainees, there has not been one case of a large scale attack being thwarted by info gained from tortured detainees yet. I can guarantee that the fact that it is know internationally that we do torture people (innocent and guilty alike) has made recruiting for terrorist organizations that much easier.
  • Torture is an inhuman and ineffective way to get info from the terrorists. I am sure there are better ways, such as hypnosis.
  • I think that the people who support it tend to have an image in their heads of Jack Bauer saving the USA from an imminent terrorist attack. I think that in that situation there is going to be some torture regardless of what the law says, and if it is that clear that torture is necessary and the day is in fact saved, then there will be a pardon. I also think that that sort of situation is basically never going to happen. People need to think of torture as a way that a lame president can get the information he wants, whether it's accurate or not or even true at all, to support his agenda.
  • Torture should rarely if ever be used... It hardly ever works, and the circumstances hardly ever call for such a drastic necessity... Plus, if the person has any information worth an ounce, they probably wouldn't talk anyways... Or if they did it probably wouldn't be the truth. Therefore, it shouldn't be used at all.
