  • A DoS attack or rather a DDos attack is basically one that disables access to your domain, or computer. This is usually done by hackers who try to prevent users from logging into their own accounts or computers. • n computer security, a denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Typically the targets are high-profile web servers, and the attack attempts to make the hosted web pages unavailable on the Internet. It is a computer crime that violates the Internet proper use policy as indicated by the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). DoS attacks have two general forms: * Force the victim computer(s) to reset or consume its resources such that it can no longer provide its intended service. * Obstruct the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately. Not all service outages, even those that result from malicious activity, are necessarily denial-of-service attacks. Other types of attack may include a denial of service as a component, but the denial of service may be part of a larger attack. • A DDos or Dos attack occurs when another computer or computers sends too many connect requests for the Client/Network/Server to handle. This attack has the best effect when the one sending the connect (SYN Requests) requests has much more bandwidth the the receiving computer. However there are legitimate Dos attacks, such as when a very popular link on a website such as a news website is clicked at once or within seconds by a ton of users.. Every time you click a link or browse the web basically you are sending yourself a SYN connect to that server to view/read/or if allowed to edit the page on the web. Bot nets are a group of computers connected around the globe that are controlled by hackers and used to attack the victim. Hence don't let your computer become apart of a bot net or a zombie which is most used to describe a hacker controlled computer. :)
