Why is it okay to bash blondes and discriminate against them but people get upset when it is done to others? I am a blonde and this upsets me!

I suspect that when people tell blonde jokes that they are like Aggie jokes, preacher jokes, man jokes, and all sorts of other categories of jokes that most of us realize have no real basis in truth but in stereotype, generalization, and mostly laughter at oneself. I am a preacher and I would prefer to tell jokes on myself. They are a form of exaggeration and recognize the impressions that people generally have of categories of people. If a form of humor makes someone fell small, it should be avoided. How do people discriminate against you as a blonde? I have noticed that it is sometimes an advantage to enjoy physical beauty. Not all blondes are intellectually challenged and not all intellectually challenged folks are blonde. In fact, there is no relationship between hair color and intellect. Here is what the joke really is - Are there people in the world who are more concerned with how they look than how they think? Reese Witherspoon is smart and blonde. So is Hilary Clinton and Chelsea (very smart).

I believe that it is always wrong to use put downs to make yourself feel tough or whatnot. This includes blonde jokes. However, you compared being blonde to being black in a comment thread. If you are comparing hair color to ethnicity ("race"), I have a question for you: how many blondes have been lynched for being blonde? Has there ever been a concerted effort to exterminate every living blonde person... genocide? Are all blondes considered subhuman and it is legal and encouraged to kill them? While I do not think blonde jokes are appropriate because they are based on a stereotype and they are often cruel, I think it is wrong to compare hair color to ethnicity.

Because people tend to point out certin charteristics. I am blonde, and it seems that if I ask a question of any kind people will make fun of us. The best you can do is tell the joker it is offensive and work hard to prove them wrong. Don't change your hair color. It seems most natural blondes tend to change their color in order to be taken seriously.

Blonde jokes were created because of the stereotype that blondes are dumb - which is obviously not true. The 'dumb blonde' stereotype portrayed in movies - the actresses themselves aren't even real blondes. The blonde jokes would really be referring to fake blondes. I know the person above said that Reese Witherspoon is smart and blonde, however her legally blonde character was 'blonde and dumb' (even though she won at the end of the movie) - but Reese herself isn't a real blonde.

Really? I dunno - redheads get a fair amount of stick too, as do rednecks - whatever their hair colour, and so on.

Believe me, redheads get the same amount of bashing. At least you can be happy that you get to hear different lines; I don't even know how many times I've had people ask me that horrible thing about carpet and drapes. Target brunettes, if someone must be blamed for these atrocities.

I think it's because innately we know the truth -most studies show that beautiful people are smarter however I find this untrue as I've seen some pretty ugly people who are smart - just think of all the list of billionaires etc. As far as blondes they are attractive - healthier usually perhaps that is why they are picked on Division is satanism ):
