I don't think the question is whether the earth is warming or not. The question is this: Is man the cause of the warming? THAT is still in question.

O.K. Take a round table. We'll call that a 'polar cap'. Now place ice cubes on the table. Cover the entire surface until you can't fit any more. Now place another handful of cubes in the middle. See any fall of the edges into the 'ocean', er... floor? Now take a small idiot with a camera and place him right where some of the cubes are falling. Get the picture yo?...

It's not about denying global warming it's about denying the significance of global warming and the extent to which it has been caused by man

1. What link? 2. The problem that I have with stories like this is that they ignore the fact that the such events as this are an indication of ADVANCING glaciers. Yes, this sounds dramatic. However, the breaking off of an ice shelf indicates that more ice has accumulated on the continent pushing the ice shelf out beyond the point of stability. The fact of the matter is that the amount of ice down there has been increasing, not decreasing. (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/10/antarctica-ice-cap-growth-reaches.html). You might also want to take a look at this page (http://scottthong.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/quick-facts-that-debunk-hysterical-global-warming-claims/).

Yes, it's all very exciting. Mankind will probably witness the ending of a glacial period and that hasn't happened in 18,000 years. This current ice age may even end. It's part of the earth's cycle. Like all of her creatures, we will adapt or die off. I suspect we'll adapt. The last glacial period was the most recent glacial period within the current ice age, occurring in the Pleistocene epoch. It began about 110,000 years ago and ended between 10,000 and 15,000 years ago. During this period there were several changes between glacier advance and retreat. The maximum extent of glaciation was approximately 18,000 years ago. While the general pattern of global cooling and glacier advance was similar, local differences in the development of glacier advance and retreat make it difficult to compare the details from continent to continent. The last glacial period is sometimes colloquially referred to as the "last ice age", though this use is incorrect because an ice age is a longer period of cold temperature in which ice sheets cover large parts of the Earth, such as Antarctica. Glacials, on the other hand, refer to colder phases within an ice age that separate interglacials. Thus, the end of the last glacial period is not the end of the last ice age. The end of the last glacial period was about 12,500 years ago, while the end of the last ice age may not yet have come: little evidence points to a stop of the glacial-interglacial cycle of the last million years. The last glacial period is the best-known part of the current ice age, and has been intensively studied in North America, northern Eurasia, the Himalaya and other formerly glaciated regions around the world. (information from Wikipedia...I know it's a crummy source, but this particular bit seems to have been lifted from a real encyclopedia.)

I guess "denial" is all in your interpretation of the "evidence". From the article: (A very prestigious publication by the way.) Separate research shows that when ice shelves are removed, the glaciers and landed ice behind them start to move towards the ocean more rapidly. It is this ice which can raise sea levels, but by how much is a matter of ongoing scientific debate. Such acceleration effects were not included by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) when it made its latest projections on likely future sea level rise. Its 2007 assessment said ice dynamics were poorly understood. A lullaby to a five year old that doesn't want to go to sleep is propaganda.

Well, this has been debated so much. Weather pattern vesuses GB, etc... Reasonable people would certainly admit there has been a change. For that reason, we certainly should not dismiss the change and turn our heads. Even Bush admitted there has been a change. Remember, they called Noah an idiot, but when the rains came, he was a genius!

Those in the denial mode have their own reasons for doing so. Same with the alarmists. What is needed is an understanding of the problem and a sustained effort to negate the effects of GW. In the fierce battle of words interests of the globe gets forgotten.

I have not read the link, sorry for that, I don't want to be influenced by information except for the one I have seen with my own two eyes. Peninsula Valdez and the National Glacier Park in Argentina have almost disappeared, the Glassier Perito Moreno which was the only one on earth to move inland to the continent is now brown instead of white and is moving towards the open sea. http://www.zappinternet.com/video/DaYcQegLez/Glaciar-Perito-Moreno-Argentina The Andes Range that had the most beautiful ice peaks I have ever seen is now almost brown and there are no more huge ice peaks, all the skiing areas are gone like for example the Pastoruri which is now a green area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andes The South Pacific Islands like Tuvalu for example, are almost covered with sea water. The governments have asked for New Zealand and Australia to take their citizens as the islands are slipping under the sea water which is rising very swiftly. http://www.twnside.org.sg/title/levels.htm http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,24446057-948,00.html If the above mentioned information is only propaganda and there is no truth or possibility of truth in said sites then I don't understand a thing I have seen for myself. I have never denied or been in denial regarding Global Warming, I have seen too much that proves it is happening not because we humans are on this earth but because of greed and carelessness by some people who don't care what happens to millions of people who will suffer the consequences.
