Same thing happened to me in August, and my parents wont help me either...They gave my sister a ton of financial help when she was in college and she didnt use any of her degrees. I had to post-pone school until i can find a job and get a secure loan. Can you get a loan from a bank? I have had a credit card since i was 18, so i have okay credit.

Nothing you can do really you can say you think it is unfair but it might or might not make a difference only advice I can tell you is to get another job and try that route even if it is part time.

your an adult your sister is not. dont worry about what your parents do for your sister. if they told you they cant help and you keep asking your just gonna piss them off. you can get student loans if you cant afford to pay for it at the moment. and if you make it happen without the help of anyone else it will be all the more rrewarding to yourself and an accomplishment to be very proud of.

I'm sympathetic to your situation & have a somewhat similar experience. My advice is to learn warly that life's not fair & become self reliant. You will find greater significance in your accomplishments, knowing that it was all you.

At 19, you are a legal adult and your parents are no longer responsible for you. But your sister at 15 is still their responsbilty. They need to make sure she has a phone to keep in touch with, new clothes as she may out grow things. Go out, find another job and be responsible for yourself, a legal adult and stop being jealous of someone who is still a minor.

It's not nice of them, but take their word for it if they say they've got no money. You're 19, and they aren't obliged to help you, but your sis is 15 and they have to spend on her for clothes, etc. Put yourself in your sis's shoes - you'd be pissed if your cell phone service got cancelled because your 19 y.o sister needed more money. Try to find another job and keep in mind that your family is unreliable for monetary help in the future. you'll feel very accomplished if you pull yourself out of this by yourself, and feel more confident in your own abilities.

Do what everyone else does. Apply for a student loan and financial aid. If you make less than 20k or so, I think you qualify for it.

as my user name denotes i am in the military if you in shape you can always go that route for 3-4 years and use all that nice money they gonna give you when you get out. i plan too and get up too 80000 in tuition paid for plus going to be national guard at same time so theres more funding assistance i dont think you are looking at all your options here.

Tell your sister to stop with all those senseless phone calls to her friends. That way your mom will have some more money to spend for you.
-
I know it doesn't seem right but no one can make your parents do anything. You can kindly ask for their help but if they still say no I would just thank them for everything they have done and search the classifieds for a job. If for some reason they ask you for money I would tell them the same thing.

YOU are nineteen years old .... an ADULT. Your parents are NOT "Obligated" to help you with furthering your education ; although it would be kind and nice of them. I imagine that when you were 15; your parents also bought you phones and clothes also ...? The best you can do is to go out and find another job .. even in fasat food IF it helps pay the bills . God helps those who helps themselves .... so YOU do your part and something will come along to assist you .
