  • She (and others like her) gets more publicity with an "orphan collection". That way, she can coordinate her children with her ensemble.
  • yeah, there are plenty. But here's thing. There are plenty of people in America that can adopt these children. They have the ability to do so. But in countries such as Africa, there aren't people that adopt. People in these countries don't just adopt children, most of them are in the same situation, or the richer ones just don't care. So the ability of the people in both countries for adoption are different.
  • Because adopting a disadvantaged African child brings a greater degree of publicity to the plight that is out there. I do agree that she should look at adopting a disadvantaged American child but would this bring her as much notoriety or am I being cynical?
  • It's not the 'in' thing to do right now. It makes for more press when they do it this way. Also, some would probably complain that she's wrong in adopting an American child. I can hear it now, "There goes those Americans again only sharing wealth among themselves."
  • Maybe she's not interested in fat, stupid children in NASCAR t-shirts who can't find the Pacific Ocean on a map.
  • hey man she has done a good job feel happy about her ,i think this is a gr8 thing
  • Madonna could better serve the children of Africa by building schools and providing food, Lord knows she has enough money..that would bring plenty of publicity and help many many more children..than snatching a little girl away from a loving grandmother, who just cant afford to take care of her..
  • No as good for photo ops.
  • Well, your argument is people of a kind should stick together. Tribal mentality. She should adopt whom she pleases. That's her preference and her right. No one should be able to tell her whom to adopt. That's just my take on it.
  • Because Madonna does a lot for Malawi, she is very involved with it. She just built an all girls school, she donates money to them, she gave all of the children there books, she's been there numerous times not just the times when she's been to adopt David & Mercy. Yes, there are children in our country but the orphans in Malawi are much more worse off. She is doing a great thing, just lay off.
  • There's an old saying that goes "Damned if you do! Damned if you don't!" No one ever quite knows for certain the inner motivations of others, including Madonna. All acts are normally part altruistic...part selfish. Finally, I'm not certain Madonna considers herself to be an "American" any longer. She's likely to view herself as a "Citizen of the World", don't ya think?
  • why doesnt she fund some schools and orphanages and work with the kids in these poor countries??
