It's a repeat of the Clinton-era appeasement gambit and Bush's move will have the same results: NK will play along so long as they get their goodies but will turn around and fire up the fission pile as soon as they think it suits their political needs. Sad that Bush didn't learn from Clinton's mistake.

I'm cautionously optimistic due to the fact that the Tri-coms (chinese) participated in these talks and a lot of people think N Korea wouldn't defy China. That having been said the North Koreans have renigged in the past. And I'm a little worried that we are paying these guys tribute.

Awesome answer CannedHam!!!! NK is ruled by a true, 100% socio-path. He will starve his people to get what he wants. That is the quandry the rest of the caring world is in: How long do we let this man divert food, energy and money to a nuclear program while his people starve? We give in to give him food in order to save lives. Tough call.
