I didn't; then, again, I have never really cared.

I read tonight that Prince's rider for Superbowl 2006 stated he wanted a Tiger in his dressing room, which led me on a search to find the contract at The Smoking Gun, where they have several for all kinds of performers. It wasn't there, and the next thing I know I'm reading this: "Prince backed out of his party at INK in Miami the Sunday of the Super Bowl because the hot spot's dragon decor offends his religious beliefs. The singer, a devout Jehovah's Witness, "sent someone for a walk-through of the space," co-owner Laurent Bourgade tells us. "When they reported back the prints on the club, he changed his mind." According to WatchTower.org, the faith's official Web site, "the highly symbolic Book of Revelation depicts the Devil as 'a great fiery-colored dragon.' " Bourgade says they're "looking at Justin Timberlake" as a last-minute replacement. Who wouldn't?" From the New York Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/494069p-416141c.html

I knew that he was a JW as I was a Prince fan back in the day (I had Purple Rain on vinyl). But I do wonder what some of our JW baggers would say about this. How can he REALLY be a practicing Witness and have the career and image that he does?
-
oh, i did,he did a pretty cool half time show at the super bowl.but, yea i heard he usd to go to the meetings.
-
...Any Kevin Smith fan would know that.
-
I knew. Prince's wife, Manuela Testolini Nelson, filed the petition to end their five-year union. I think that the divorce papers about through the "system" too. I heard that "he has not been making the meetings" lately. That is an unconfirmed rumor, nothing more. I do not think that being a rock star goes very well in this faith.
-
Yeah but if you think about it, who really cares what he does in his personal life. I don't.
-
hes stuying it not baptist as one yet. and he just recently became to know jeovah.
-
I didn't, did you? Oh yes, of course you did, it was you that told me.
-
I cant believe he actually chose a "standard" religion. I thought he would make one up himself.
-
I knew...I heard that he will not sing some of his old songs now because they conflict with his beliefs...good on him for standing up for something, even if it has happened later in his life...
-
I never knew he was Jehovah's Witness, but I knew Micheal Jackson was.
-
Yes he is. http://www.adherents.com/people/pp/Prince.html

Prince was married in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. This was immediately reported on AP. So the question is who knew? I think the question should be who DIDN'T! :-)

Yes Brother Roger nelson is a witness...he was baptized in 01. He doesn't perform many of his songs because they have curse words or sexual content etc etc...I have 2 of his albums he did after he was a witness he talks about it in his songs (get on the boat is my favorite song well one of them) Their are many who are witnesses Michael Jackson is a witness though disfellowshipped, venus and serena williams are witnesses (they used to go to my hall and now they go to my friends hall they are so nice)Terrence Howard is studying...ummm Naomi cambell was raised as one her mother still is. The waynes family was raised as one (damon wayne marlon etc etc). One of the presidents was raised...so horrible. But yea a lot of celebs are witnesses.

Is Micheal Jackson also a Jehovah Witness?

I heard that he was, and after reading some of the more informed answers, I guess I now have the 'rest' of the story. I have to go now because I want to go on u-tube and see if I can find the song he wrote about his beliefs "Get on the Boat"...I've never heard it..but would like to.
