  • Your question could do with some rephrasing. Not all religions require or are about belief.
  • Religion and faith in an afterlife are two different things. When I'm on my death bed I don't think I'll just randomly decide to believe in Creation and forgo my ideas I've had most of my adult life.
  • No, I was dying at one point and not expected to survive the night...I accepted that..I just was tired and wanted to sleep...obviously, to my and all the doctor's amazement, I survived....but I never thought about religion during the process...
  • Yeah, I think it's possible for some people to have what you are talking about happen. But what I think will be the most surprising is how the "believers" will finally realize how they took things a little too seriously.
  • No, one's beliefs can't be chosen. You either believe in something, or you don't. Anyone who says that they can choose what they believe is only lying to himself.
  • I think I might "get massive amounts of morphine" on my death bed.
  • I was in a position when I had my son that put me very close to death, trust me, religion was the last thing on my mind.
  • Everyone seems to enjoy telling me I will, but I pretty much doubt that. If anything, I'll be lamenting my regrets in life, of which I would have had more if I abstained myself from things due to religion. Incidentally, I don't think the religious are much better at peace than anyone else on their death beds. Either way though, somehow I doubt that religion will pop into my mind much when I'm dying.
  • according to my textbook, majority of non-religious people do find religion in their elder years. they become closer to death and they want to feel some kind of peace of mind. religion gives them this peace of mind. i'm not so sure about me. i'm an agnostic so maybe it's my way of covering my bases.
