There is no type 3. There is a such thing as diet-controlled diabetes, which doesn't require insulin, however, that is niether typ 1 nor type 2. Both require insulin injections and regular blood glucose monitoring.

I have something called " insulin resistance "---supposedly its pre-diabetes if i dont eat right...i also avoid all sugar and follow a low GI diet to lower my bloodsugar levels...this is to prevent more insulin of being produced in my body...supposedly there is already too much thats not working right and not breaking down my sugar levels...it has all the same symptoms as diabetes--tiredness, thirsty, and so on...

Type 1 is juvenile diabetes, which my daughter has had since age 4 and had to start injections immediately because her sugar got out of control so fast but now she has a pump that was paid for by her insurance through the company she works for and she loves it no more shots! you just put the medicine in the pump set it and it takes care of the rest but it has to be maintained daily by checking the battery, and cleaning the tube that goes into the skin. Type 2 is generally from being over weight or when a person develops it at an older age or due to another health problem and it depends on the severity of the sugar levels as well if the doctor wants to control the disease by diet, pill, or injections, and there is no type 3 that I am aware of. The best thing to do is TALK to you doctor and if you are not happy with the infor given by the doctor then by all means please see another one, my brother in law died at age 33 because his doctor misdiagnosed him and did not give him the proper treatment for what he needed. There are many good websites to read up on it I see there have been some given to you , hope this helped,, best of luck!!
