Sparkling
Everything sparkles - he is so optimistic and happy - taught me life is too short to let negative things hold me back!
No I cannot. My father has been through so much in his life that one word is just not enough.
Some single words I could use are: Survivor, resilient, stubborn, good work ethic, loving, strong, and caring.
He had a stroke when he was in his early 50's and basically had to learn to walk and talk again. He is now in his 70's and is starting to slow up a bit. But he doesn't let it stop him from getting around.

by hondafanatic213 on April 12th, 2007
i did a study on absent fathers and that most girls with absent fathers turn lesbian and hey u are cool
by raerae on April 26th, 2007
I think your study was seriously flawed if those were the results you got.
by Carmella on April 26th, 2007
LOL!! My thougths exactly.
by Zibbys Mind Is In the Gutter Today on April 27th, 2007
raerae, what exactly do you mean when you inform us that you "did a study"? Whom did you study? Where did you conduct the study, anyway? The French Quarter during Gay Pride week? Maybe the Bourbon Pub on ladies' night, LOL. Look - there's no substantive correlation between an absent father and a woman's sexual orientation. Too many variables exist to state an unequivocal cause-and-effect relationship between the two. It just doesn't work that way.
by Jodie44 on April 27th, 2007
TSD!!!!!
by Zibbys Mind Is In the Gutter Today on April 27th, 2007
<red face> I was so busy laughing at the whole study thing, I forgt abt TSD. I'm glad I quit before I went Freudian on the subject, LOL.
by Jodie44 on April 27th, 2007
LOL! Don't do that...No one wants that.
by Zibbys Mind Is In the Gutter Today on April 27th, 2007
well i didnt exactly do the study but hey i was les at a time and i have a absent father jus sayin lol
by raerae on April 27th, 2007
Did you ever go to Charlene's? I think it's closed now. I used to live in Baton Rouge, long time ago. Small world, huh?
by Jodie44 on April 27th, 2007
raerae- you were 'a les at a time'?! I don't think that really counts as finding most girls who have absent fathers become lesbian. I know many, many females with absent fathers, and I know one lesbian. The lesbian, weirdly enough, lives with her married, heterosexual parents.
by Carmella on April 28th, 2007
oh well i dont care it was just a study that was actually found not that helpful because you are right but hey i live in new orleans i dont know a charlene
by raerae on April 28th, 2007
Charlene's was a women's bar in N.O. Not in the Quarter.
by Jodie44 on April 28th, 2007
oh no im only 18 havent really been to much in new orleans even though i lived here all my (life - katrina- rest of life) lol
by raerae on April 29th, 2007

Hi, Carmella!
by Jodie44 on November 15th, 2007
Hey Jodie! :)
by Carmella on November 15th, 2007
Carmella,
In addition to absent I can add totally flaked out.
by cyther1 on January 19th, 2008
You mean your father is flaked out or you are my father?! *grin* I'd like to say that last part is a joke, but after the past few months I'm starting to think anything is possible.
by Carmella on January 19th, 2008
you hit the nail on the head with absent can i make a new word and say uselessabsent? thats what mines always been, and the sad thing is i dont even think he realises it!
by pipmeup on January 19th, 2008
I think ''absent'' sort of naturally leads to ''useless''... someone who isn't there can't do much good! Except I suppose by not being around, some peoples fathers are doing them a favour. :)
by Carmella on January 20th, 2008
huh?
by asiandomination on April 3rd, 2008
Can totaly relate
by punkymoo on May 18th, 2008
Wow, that's the sad thought for the day, thanks for that, lol.

by Its a Bugs Life on January 24th, 2009
Holy shit... Yes, in every sense of the word.
by Adz3r0 on March 3rd, 2009
got it in one!
by danidevil on April 7th, 2009
So, it would seem that this is an American trend? There seems to be a seriously fundamental flaw in men with fatherhood.
by Adz3r0 on April 8th, 2009
No, I'm English. I'd say it's pretty much a universal trend. Men are traditionally the hunter gatherers though, and mothers are traditionally the nurturers. Perhaps that has something to do with it, I dunno.
by Carmella on April 8th, 2009
Yeah, I guess we still hunt, but just for ourselves. Shit man, how do I prevent that from happening if I end up with a child?
by Adz3r0 on April 8th, 2009
Don't have a child with someone unless the both of you are completely devoted to one another.
by Shavale is very happy on April 8th, 2009

by Lydiaever on November 9th, 2009
i couldn't agree more with the word "absent"
by Just Me on November 24th, 2009
That is sad. Although I was just about to type it as MY word.
by Tate on December 7th, 2009
So what does it read about American or first world culture when the majority of an aggregate sample of people label their fathers as 'absent' or below?
by Adz3r0 on December 7th, 2009
