Well, he actually gave her a rare manuscript (sheet music) autographed by the late composer... Richard Rodgers, a great American composer.. a perfectly acceptable gift. In addition to this, per the queen's request, they gave her a video Ipod. Why the obsession with the gifts? The woman owns everything.. literally... Do you really think she needs another cut crystal punch bowl?

Considering the fact that it was an inscribed iPod, uploaded with photos and videos from her last visit to the United States as well as some of her preferred music, it seems like a great deal of consideration and care went into selecting and putting together this gift. In addition to this, they gave her a rare songbook signed by Richard Rodgers, who was the lyricist for one of the Queen's favorite musicals. Yes, it seems someone thought a great deal about this gift. On the other hand: "In return, the Queen gave the President a silver framed signed photograph of herself and the Duke of Edinburgh - apparently a standard present for visiting dignitaries." So, the Queen gave the President a "standard" gift, lacking both thought and originality. Why aren't Americans outraged and offended? Should we be? In my opinion, no. We have far greater things to worry about.

WRONG!! I did not know that the President had even give a gift to Gordon Brown. I don't know who Gordon Brown is. And, I also did n ot know he had given a gift to the aqueen. So, we did NOT "all know that the President's gift ... was insulting to the British. And, I don't care how " his gift to the Queen went over" Don't let my answer disturb you. I'm just an old cynical fart being cynical. Be kind. Be joyful. Be safe. Sincerely, Uncle Floyd

Really was it insulting? A mistake was made in the function of the gift sure. But why would you find that insulting? I'm not insulted if a guest knocks over a coffee cup. I am insulted when they willingly poor it on my carpet. The difference being you're looking for a reason to hate the man. Truly pathetic, I for one thought you had a little more class than that. I guess I was wrong.
