  • Or maybe try to delete some of your old files?
  • i suggest deleting and uninstalling stuff you dont need.to uninstall something, go to the control panel and find add/remove programs. then click the program to uninstall it. if that doesnt work, you might have a virus. download a virus protection with virus scan. i reccommend getting "AVG" free 30 day trial. it works great. scan for viruses, if it finds any, delete them! if your computer is STILL slow, it could be because its old. computers get slow when they get old. get a new computer. you could try installing "windows vista". its better and faster than xp.
  • What you have there is too many process taking to many resources. It is a bit of a chore, but you need to fire up the Task Manager, check every one of the process names (google them each), and kill the ones you don't need. Then, go into your services panel of the "manage my computer" and turn off all the services you do not need or use. For example, "windows time" or "Bonjour service" etc. These eat up cycles and slow you down. Then restart and check the task manager again and make sure nothing came back; you should get about 20-40% improvement if you have what I suspect you have. Probably a bunch of Acro..., or iPod service stuff running. Just turn it on when you need it, don't leave it loaded all the time :-)
  • Lots of things make Windows XP slow. Perhaps the top cause is insufficient RAM. Windows XP needs at least 2 GB RAM to work well. If you have less, then its time to invest.
  • Back up everything you want to keep, put in your Windows XP cd, restart the computer, and redo your entire computer.
  • You could try doing a disc clean-up! That will get rid of a lot of unused stuff that you don't even know you have.
