Not always, no. Sometimes questions ask for facts rather than your personal interpretation. Furthermore it is a subtle reminder to other users that this is an opinion question and users should not be down-rated for expressing their views.

Not always. Sometimes a person is torn between writing the "politically correct" answer, or their true feelings. When you say, "in your opinion" you are specifically asking for honest answers, not the "right" answer. These are always the most interesting and revealing answers.

If it is a factual question, like, is the world really round? An opinion would not much matter as we know it to be a fact that indeed it is.Sorry for the example. Here, this one, what is a tunic?...that is not an opinion question. Saying,"in your opinion" is always good to say because it lets everyone know this is not a downratable area.Although some people think if you don't agree with another persons opinion that you should downrate them.I think that is wrong. And thats my opinion.

points to jammco and nevets. I thought it's to get a real answer instead of referring us to go read some long dragged out encyclopedia reference somewhere else. Or maybe they just want it to sound like an intelligently worded question... [insert fake English accent here] "Alright now, in YOUR opinion...." Yep. works for me.

I've just put a question like that, and my intention is to get the opinions of others, but at the same time, I want to express my opinion and see if we think alike or not.
