I have a 1993 volvo 850 and it has about 120,000 miles on it but when I start it up it makes a ticking noise and it won,t go faster than 45mph till it warms up good. What could be the problem

    check and see if the ticking is the engine "pinging". sometimes after 120,000 miles the distributor might be having a sticking problem and not advancing when its cold.

    the ticking could also be your valve lifters are not getting oil because it too heavy to get up to those areas due to the high milage and perhaps a worn-out oil pump- time for a pressure gauge to see what is going on.
