The best way I know of is ask them to improve themselves so the relationship can expand! Most people think the status quo is sufficient and don't like the idea of self improvement for a spouse.

Well I have been spending a lot more time with my friends and kids. But now that I am ignoring her she's really been pressing harder to get me back. What keeps me from going back is the fact that it will go back to the way it was.

when i realllly wanted to let this guy go; i literally sat down and wrote out of list of ways he had hurt me/ done me wrong. and i thought about how bad he made me feel. and how much happier i could be without him. it worked for me!

'get over someone by getting under someone else' ha ha no bad advice mostly taken on by drunken college students!! altho going on a date might open up your mind and heart a small bit to what is out there again. if it was a long relationship there is not need to jump into another relationship but just seeing other guys can help.

I was finally able to let her go to work because we need the money! :p Now for my actual answer: When my ex left me I started dating other women. Unfortunately that didn't work until I realized that I was comparing them to an idealized version of what she really was. When that happened my release was complete.
