I don't know how old she is, but I can personally vouch for Crossing the Bridge Books in terms of quality and customer service. They are made here where I live, and I've seen a few of them, including one I bought for my son. They're beautiful and touching. it's crossingthebridgebooks.com if you want to look.
My aunt did them for my kids. We never grew to love them. The stories and graphics weren't that great and a kid is only trilled about seeing their name for a minute. Then if the story isn't that good, well they aren't that interested
