I was looking for this movie too and finally found it.
it came out in 1985 and it was told by Christopher Plummer. Just type on google Rumplestiltzkin 1985 and it will come up on Amazon, i recognized the cover immediately, you probably will too. good luck!
I use to watch this show all the time! does anyone know which company put the show out or produced it? Or even who did any of the characters voices? This would be very helpful! Thanks!
I actually have this particular version taped on an old VHS tape somewhere. Dubbed to Swedish. I don't have this tape where I am currently at (it's at my folks' place) but I am going there over the Christmas holidays and I can have a look then to see what the end credits say about director/producer (and any other information that would help to pin-point this film) - if we taped the end credits, that is (I hope we did)! I promise to get back to you shortly after Christmas (if no one else has answered you before then, that is)!
Okay.
I have been trying to find that same cartoon as well, I know it was made in the 80's I used to watch a lot when I was a little girl. It was such a silly song where he's singing around the fire at night singing about rats, and worms and such. It has been bugging me so much!! I still can't find it.

You're reading I am trying to locate a cartoon movie called Rumpelstiltskin. This particular version had a song in it that went something like this."Its a fine night, a very fine night for worms."
