  • No, because it is not sound proof. And I've also tried it.
  • In theory, yes. I've seen where snare mics have had gallon jugs modified and fit around them to help with noise rejection from other parts of the kit. It depends on what you're recording of course, but if it's something that's fairly directional like vocals, or guitar amps... just get a good cardioid microphone. That inherently takes care of a lot of sound leakage issues. Good luck!
  • Unidirectional mics are perfect for that so make sure you have one. Also try messing with the volume so you have to be pretty close to recording something. I use a SM 58S and it works for me. Happy recording!
  • Cone shaped things will not reduce the sound and will in fact negatively colour the sound you ARE trying to record! Think about speaking into a toilet roll tube - it has that weird sound, this will be a less exagerated version of that. As suggested a good cardiod mic rather than a unidirectional will make a massive difference to the back ground noise - but why are you getting interference? This could be the quality of the mic or other ausio equipment. Look into that too! Hope that helps!
