Question

The grandparents bought savings bonds for the kids when they were babies, but never gave them a hard copy. The kids are old enough for college now, but the grandparents don't remember. Is there some way to find that money without the actual bonds?

If you know when the bonds were bought, you can apply to the Treasury Department to research the bond issue details and reissue them if need be.

    From the Feds:

"To replace a missing savings bond, or request its redemption, please complete form PDF 1048, available on the Bureau of the Public Debt's web site."
