Final Fantasy 7 (PS1) or Final Fantasy 10 (PS2), if you like disappearing into a little world of your own for a long time. Or Mario Kart (N64), if you are feeling sillier and more sociable.

I can never decide myself. There is really no way to talk about this without being geeky so here goes: 7 is possibly the greatest game ever in terms of gameplay, it was just so vast and fun. And the materia system of assigning character abilities has probably never been bettered. And the golden saucer... 10 is just so beautiful! I also like the sphere grid system, and most of the characters are great (apart from the main guy, who is really annoying), and the side quests are all good, apart from the ******* butterfly hunt. Overall I agree with you, but usually get accused of being sentimental.

what with all these fantasy games?! i hate fantasy games i hate unrealism, games have amazing graphics to make everything look real yet it still doesn't in rpg games. call of duty 4 on xbox 360, gotta be the best game ever invented in modern terms, i'd say pokemon is the best handheld game. pacman or frogger best original, it's impossible to compare a game from the SNES to a game on the PS3, it's worlds apart.
