I saw a picture in a newspaper a few weeks back, to polar bears were on a rapidly melting iceberg hundreds of miles away from the mainland. They'd become stranded due to the warming of the oceans and the article said they wouldn't be able to swim all the way back to the mainland and would starve to death where they were. It's heartbreaking to think about. This planet doesn't stand a chanc with us on it.

I was re-reading Ovid's Metamorophoses yesterday (as one does...)and the story of Phaoton driving his father's chariot across the sky really struck me - when the chariot goes out of control it basically sets the world on fire, the description of the burning the destruction is so vivid and it made me think a lot about modern war.

Maury Povich did a show on things that were caught on tape, and a family had caught their babysitter abusing their infant child. She was shaking the little girl, tossing her on the bed, holding her upside down... I wanted to cry. I think it really struck a chord because I'd just had a niece brought into the world and I could only imagine if that had happened to her. Answerbag wouldn't exist to me, because I'd be locked up in a federal prison.
