Potentially broken or loose wiring in the wall, or maybe ground wire not connected at the breaker. Pull one of the closest outlets from the wall and check wiring with a circuit tester to see if current is at that point. Is there a switch in between? Perhaps a switch may be off if outlets are controlled by such or if so, switch may be bad.

Depending on where the receptacles are located and the age of the home it's sounds as though you might have a GFCI receptacle on that circuit if so try resetting it. If not go to the receptacle closest to the panel look there careful if the neutral is loose and the grounding conductor is terminated its still live.So for safety turn off the breaker supplying that circuit.
