No; it's usually an older woman or a gay man who just calls everyone by some term of endearment.
-
I don't care,
-
For some reason it gets on my nerves when the server is much younger than I am. I'm not even saying there's anything wrong with it- it just bugs me.
-
No it doesn't bother me.
-
Nope, it's kinda comforting really.
-
I like it. There's a diner I frequently, partly because they call me "hon" there. It's nice.
-
Call me what they want as long as the food arrives on time..lol
-
A little when it is flat in the face that I am twice their age.
-
seems kinda trashy to me.
-
sometimes those southern waitresses pour on the hon to the point of overkilll
-
I am thrilled when it happens. I interpret it to mean my waitress has regard for me. It kind of makes me feel good inside. I know she does not mean anything negative by it. I will say that I do not think a man should call me that. It may be a double standard but I think only women should be calling people Sweetie or Hon.
-
Not really. What does bother me is when they call me "ma'am" - that makes me feel so old!
-
I HATE being calle "miss" I am married and I find it very offensive when someone calls me that. Whether or not they know I am single doesn't matter. I think ma'am is universal and more respectful and polite. I don't mind being called sweetie or hon as long as it's not said over and over again by the same waitress, it gets annoying! +3
-
not if shes a cute waitress ;)
-
hon is kind of weird..but i love being called sweetie by anyone :)
-
nope
-
I think it depends on where I am. I am a middle aged woman and some young kid calling me that would not sit well. On the other hand if I were in a restaurant I frequented and knew the server, it would probably make me feel good.
-
Ya I am because that's what I call them back
-
It's fine with me if a waitress calls me sweetie as long as she doesn't mind when I jump up and hug her.
-
Usually not, but it all depends on the tone of voice.
-
Sounds like they are talking down trying to soothe you when they do.
-
I've only been uncomfortable with a waitress once. She slipped under the table and went...well you know. All the time I'm sitting there I'm trying to calculate what kind of tip I should give. Don't want to offend, but at the same time I don't want to tip too much and make her feel like a whore. Very delicate situation.
-
I like it when a waitress, younger or older, calls me hon or sweetie.
-
It depends.Sometimes it seems they are just trying real hard to be nice. But sometimes it really does bother me.I think it`s how that particular person seems to me at the time.Like do how do they mean it?I try to not let it bother me,because it is a nice pharse, but sometimes it just strikes me wrong and I really dislike it.But tolerate it,giving the benefit of the doubt.
-
I am not uncomfortable with. I just think they look foolish if they are under the age of 60 and calling people things like that.
-
No, not usually unless they just say it way too many times. It doesn't usually bother me at all.
-
No, I used to work at as a waitress when I was 17 years old so I realize how hard they have to work. I never called anyone hon or sweetie though. The older more experienced ones talked that way and they were always so sweet to me.
-
It doesn't bother me in the least.
-
No, it's kind of like it's supposed to be that way -- especially in diners and barbeque joints.
-
no...in fact if more people called eachother hon or sweetie it would be a much nicer world to live in
